![]() Not just the idea of ghosts hiding in someone’s head, but the story around it too. ![]() So many times the story unfolded in a way I absolutely did not see coming, but it also felt natural that the story went that way. ![]() ![]() I had no idea what was going to happen at any time of the story. So much happens in this book, there are so many nuances and twists and turns that I feel the description I gave above just cannot do it justice. Luckily I got used to the creepiness of this amazing story and by then I just couldn’t put it down anymore. It was so creepy that I couldn’t handle it (but I do have a phobia of ghosts so it was probably my own fault) and couldn’t read it at night or i wouldn’t sleep. Honestly, at first I was close to putting it down because it was so good. With a spirit inside her she has to escape the grasp of her father’s powerful ancestors, all in the middle of a war torn country. Makepeace has had to learn from a young age to defend herself against these spirits, but one dreadful event causes her to drop her guard. ![]() Some people have enough space within them for an extra spirit. Sometimes, when a person dies, their spirit goes looking for somewhere to hide. “Makepeace did not know who the ‘others’ might be, but others were always a threat.” ![]()
